Dr Paul Rebgetz is a specialist orthopaedic surgeon treating hip, knee, foot and ankle conditions, including arthritis, sports injuries and orthopaedic trauma. He has completed fellowship training in Australia and the United Kingdom, with a surgical practice spanning anterior approach hip replacement, robotic-assisted hip and knee replacement, revision hip and knee replacement, knee arthroscopy and reconstructive foot and ankle surgery.
His approach begins with a thorough assessment and a clear explanation of your diagnosis, followed by advice on the surgical and non-surgical treatment options appropriate for you.
Further training at Gold Coast University Hospital included sports knee surgery, joint replacement, robotic-assisted techniques and complex trauma. At The Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane, his training focused on hip and knee replacement, including robotic-assisted and revision procedures. Dr Rebgetz subsequently undertook training in lower limb reconstruction, foot and ankle surgery and trauma at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
Before studying medicine, Dr Rebgetz qualified as a physiotherapist. This background informs his understanding of movement, functional limitations and rehabilitation, alongside his surgical assessment and treatment planning.

Dr Rebgetz takes time to understand your symptoms, daily challenges and goals, explaining your options so you can make informed decisions about your treatment.
Robotic-assisted technology supports surgical planning and implant positioning during hip and knee replacement. Dr Rebgetz will discuss whether this approach is suitable for your procedure.
Recommendations consider the nature of your condition, its effect on daily function, your overall health and activity requirements. Options may include non-surgical management or surgery, depending on the clinical findings.
Patients may be referred for persistent joint symptoms, an injury or concerns about a previous operation. An assessment can help clarify the cause and determine whether further treatment is appropriate.
Persistent pain, instability or restricted movement after an injury may affect your confidence and activity. A clinical examination and relevant imaging help assess the structures involved and guide management.
Explore treatment options for hip, knee, foot and ankle conditions, from sports injuries and fractures to arthritis and joint replacement, tailored to your needs and goals.
Treatment of hip arthritis, fractures and problems affecting an existing replacement. Procedures include anterior and posterior approach hip replacement, revision hip replacement and surgery for hip fractures.
Treatment of knee arthritis, ligament and meniscus injuries, kneecap conditions and problems following knee replacement. Procedures include total and partial knee replacement, robotic-assisted replacement, revision surgery, arthroscopy and ligament reconstruction.
Treatment of arthritis, bunions, tendon injuries, instability and alignment problems. Procedures include ankle arthroscopy, ligament reconstruction, Achilles tendon repair, joint fusion, realignment surgery and minimally invasive bunion correction.
Assessment and treatment of fractures and associated injuries, including those involving the hip, knee, foot and ankle. Surgical management may include fracture fixation or joint replacement, depending on the injury.
Dr Rebgetz will review your concerns, examine the affected area and assess relevant imaging. He will explain the findings and discuss treatment options. In some cases, additional investigations are needed before a recommendation can be made.
If surgery is recommended, you will receive clear information about the procedure, its risks and alternatives, and how to prepare for hospital and recovery at home.
Your procedure is planned around your condition and individual anatomy. Dr Rebgetz will explain the surgical approach and what you can expect.
Guidance on pain management, rehabilitation and follow-up appointments helps you work towards your recovery goals, with progress reviewed along the way.
Your treatment pathway will depend on your diagnosis and whether surgery is recommended. The following outlines the consultation process and, where applicable, preparation for surgery and recovery.
